Ok, djtlc.

Why is it that everytime I go to the club, the DJ's would have the crowd rocking for the first 2 songs. Then would play some sorry tune that no one in the club knows besides the dj.

Now the dancefloor is empty and the Dj still rocking like he doing something right?

May be u go to the wrong clubs or something are those dj's need to go back to school and learn a little more before they play in a club they should come to Montreal and let me teach them a little something that they never learn!!

Or the dj is high on:ganja that have his brain all fried up so for him he is :wiggle: to him self or he just don't have a clue on what the hell he is doing!!!

True to dat but u don't need that shit to have a good time to fried up yah brain if a dj play good vibez u will appreciate the music and lyrics even more

what tools are u talking about are they building a house are something or the cable man came to fix they cable? dj's don't have tools we have music equipment and it depends on the kind of music a dj buy to play at a party and also the skills he have to make that party rock?

:D TLC Babe don't take offence I was not aiming no criticism at you as a DJ!

But being as you made the point I feel the need to reply! I am no :ganja addict! I go out and smoke :cool or not smoke - I am cool either way - I do not need it and being in law in my full time job I can honestly say it don't fry up my brains! I know what it's like to take in a show both ways and enjoy it just the same - and one thing I am very tuned into is musical and lyrical content - (both as a spectator and when I am involved) it's my work and as you know I am well accustomed to the "Tools of the Trade"! I'll try not to take offence ;) :D

I guess "Blaming it on the tools" is a UK thing - "A bad workman blames his tools" So I was trying to say if a DJ is shit it's because THAT'S what he is ... shit!! It's because of one or more of these reasons:

* selfish and plays for themself;
*no taste in tunes;
*no conception of how to stimulate and build up the audience and recognise when to switch if the audience look like they are losing interest;
*no budget to buy tunes;
*no idea what tunes are "in" and what tunes aren't;
*no idea how to research the Pre-Release and Promos market ...

The list goes on - I am sure you can add many more ... just ...

:D :nono don't blame it on the spliff he/she smoking! OK?! ;) :D

YIPES!!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek: :eek: :eek:

I really must ask what is your definition of an ULTIMATE RIDDIM??

I mentioned Sleng Teng because I doubt there is a dub box that is complete without a sleng teng dub plate, and I doubt there is an artist that hasn't voiced on it. Ultimate because it’s unavoidable, and just the instrumental is a winner at any dance….a riddim that can’t die.

Now, it may not be the Ultimate riddim, but certainly Nine Night and the Buy Out (dead already) cannot test it. Cheezonbread

Okay, maybe Stalag or Hot Milk or Every Tongue, Swing Easy or even Big Belly Man but I think none of these young riddims have been along long enough not to fall into the forgettable pile. But again, that’s just my opinion, and I’m not a DJ so don’t take my word for it.

Hmmmmm......

I guess when I meant "ultimate riddim" I was referring to a riddim that has stood the test of time.

I was not referring really to a riddim that was "old" or "new" in terms of age, but one who's RELEVANCE is still current.

I guess you guys in Canada don't do dubs or have a different way of appreciating music because it seems like we are having two different conversations.

Artist: Warrior King

Title: Virtuous Woman / Never Go Where Pagans Go

Genre: Conscious Dancehall

Street Date: November 20, 2001

The #1 Jamaican reggae hits "Virtuous Woman" with its infectious 'doo-ba-doo-ba-day' vocal ad-lib (on the "Zion Gates" riddim) and "Never Go Where Pagans Go" (on the Gregory Isaacs "Number 1" riddim) with lyrics reminiscent of early Sizzla have taken Jamaica's dancehall scene by storm.

Adding to the wave of retro influenced riddims that's running the reggae scene in 2001, these debut recordings from one 'Warrior King' from the parish of Clarendon has made (and continues to make) his presence felt in reggae internationally.

This unique new voice with lyrics full of wisdom is winning fans with every spin of these hot new tunes.

VP Records is proud to release the debut commercial CD single from newcomer Warrior King from producer Michael Johnson (for Lion Paw Records) and Sheldon Stewart (for Calibud Records).

The first song he recorded "Nuff A Dem A Evil" was with Little Blacks in the mid-90's - produced by Cocoa Tea.

Warrior King once performed under the name Bounty Junior. He changed it to Junior Kid; then Junior King and was renamed Warrior King by Frisco Kid.

His debut single was the well known Virtuous Woman which he recorded in November 2000 and released in March and took an incredible 5 months to break big! During this time, Warrior King, (Mark Dwyer) aged 22, was studying Engineering at College, and was delighted to be hearing his tune receiving airplay by local radio DJ's. After completing his courses, rather than start an internship he decided to concentrate on his music instead.

Tunes so far are:

Virtuous Woman
Never Go Where the Pagans Go
Empress So Divine
Breath of Fresh Air
Boast Not Yourself
Tell Me How

There is talk of an album in the early part of this year.
