Bridgetown, Barbados, CANA - More than 600 workers at Barbados' financially-strapped Transport Board will not get pay increases next Friday because of a shortage of funds, the Barbados Advocate newspaper reported yesterday. The newspaper said the Board had agreed to the pay increases in the current industrial contract with the Barbados Workers Union (BWU), but it did not have the resources to meet the third tranche of retroactive salaries and wages due on February 23. The state-run Transport Board is seeking the BWU's approval to defer payment of the third and fourth tranches until April 30 and May 31 this year, the Advocate reported.
