Roseau, Dominica, CANA - The Dominica government has revoked the licence of a major offshore bank operating in the country, Finance Minister Ambrose George has confirmed. George told CANA Friday that government had withdrawn the operating licence of British Trade and Commerce Bank (BTCB) but declined to provide further details because a forensic audit of the bank is being conducted by the auditors Price Waterhouse Coopers. The action comes in the wake of a routine examination of the BTCB undertaken by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank two weeks ago and a negative report on BTCB which was recently released in the United States.
