Hamilton, Bermuda, CANA - Bermuda's Police Commissioner, Jean-Jacques Lemay, praised his officers and members of the public this week when he reported a 23 per cent drop in crime last year. He said the decrease in the number of incidents reported was not accidental, but the result of hard work and commitment from police officers -- many of them West Indians -- and support from the community. Lemay said while he and his officers were delighted with the latest figures, which show a massive 51 per cent drop in crimes between 1994 and 2000, there was no room for complacency.
