Norton isn't removing the file because it's not a virus. It's spyware. Try BHO Daemon (http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads/bhod/bhodmon1.zip). I believe it's a browser helper object.

Hmm, you might have to go deep to get at this. How handy are you with HijackThis (http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe)?

You might have already come across this in your search, but this might be useful:
File azesearch4.ocx is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32. The file size on Windows XP is 36864 bytes.
This .dll file is a Browser Helper Object (BHO) that runs automatically every time you start your Internet browser. BHOs are not stopped by personal firewalls, because they are identified by the firewall as your browser itself. BHOs are often used by adware and spyware. The unique ID of this BHO is da7ff3f8-08be-4cac-bc00-94d91c6ae7f4. There is no description of the program. The program is not visible. It is an unknown file in the Windows folder. The file is able to change the behavior or monitor the Internet Explorer. The service has no detailed description. The file is not a Windows core file. Therefore the technical security rating is 5% dangerous.
You can probably use HijackThis to delete that key.

If you run HijackThis and post the log file I can probably tell you which key you need to delete.

Try deleting this key:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)
I'm not sure that's it though but it's definitely suspicious.
How exactly is azesearch4.ocx affecting your computer?

In that case, have you just tried doing a search for that particular file and deleting it manually?

That's really weird stuff. One last shot. Do you have your folder options set to view hidden files and folders. It might be that azesearch4.ocx is hidden so it doesn't turn up on your manual searches.

Wow, I guess I'd have to chalk this up to a Norton hiccup. I can't think of any other reason why it would still show up in scans.

From Lion3s.
NM if u memba DOS, run command ATTRIB C:\windows\system32\azesearch4.ocx C:\windows\system32\azesearch4.doc
This will change the attribute of the file extension, allowing you to see the file and delete it.
You have to boot in DOS though.
