Does it really have to reach to this
Three killed in Trincity crash NALINEE SEELAL Sunday, November 26 2006
Three young women lost their lives yesterday evening when the car in which they were occupants, skidded off the Churchill Roosevelt Highway in the vicinity of Trincity Mall and landed on its hood. One of the women was thrown several feet from the car and her head was severed in the process. The two other female occupants of the car died from massive head injuries. The driver was rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in critical condition, while three other injured persons were treated by EHS officers. The three deaths caused a massive traffic pile up at the scene and police closed the west bound lane to vehicular traffic. Police officers diverted traffic to Trincity while they awaited a wrecker to remove the vehicles. Motorists travelling on the east bound lane of the highway slowed down to catch a glimpse of the bodies lying on the roadway causing a further pile up of traffic. According to reports, at about 5 pm, the driver of PBD 1113 was heading towards Port-of-Spain when he allegedly attempted to overtake a maxi taxi. Reports revealed that he lost control of the car which spun around several times and collided with two other cars. The bodies were viewed by a District Medical Officer and ordered removed to the Port-of-Spain Mortuary. TWO BROTHERS were killed instantly yesterday morning while drag racing along the Cross Crossing bridge in San Fernando, while another man is warded in critical condition following a vehicular accident along the Solomon Hochoy Highway. Dead are Anslem Cadogan, 35, and his younger brother Brian, 34, of Bryans Gate, Phillipine, San Fernando. Both men were employed at Tucker Energy Services Limited, Cross Crossing, San Fernando. The third accident victim has been identified as Eric Lewis, 42, of Moruga. According to a police report, at about 3.30 am, Brian was driving his blue Ford Focus in a northerly direction along the Cross Crossing bridge, when on reaching the Cipero River he lost control of his vehicle. Eyewitnesses told police that a green Honda Civic was seen racing alongside Brian, when suddenly the driver of a grey Super Salon vehicle, came in the pathway of Brian’s vehicle causing him to slam into the railing of the bridge. Upon impact the report stated, Brian and Cadgoan were thrown several feet into the air before landing in the river. They died on the spot. Police officers investigating the accident yesterday told Sunday Newsday that skid marks were seen several metres from where the accident occurred. For more than five hours yesterday curious onlookers gathered at the scene viewing parts of the mangled wreck. When Sunday Newsday visited the house yesterday no one was at home. A man who was seen running towards the house, and identified himself only as a “brother” told Sunday Newsday that he learnt of his brother’s death while in a taxi on his way to Port-of-Spain. Wiping tears from his eyes the man said, “I was in a taxi heading to Port-of-Spain, when I overheard the driver and another passenger speaking about an accident in San Fernando. When I heard the driver described the state of the car I said to myself those fellas had to be speeding. It was on the 12’o clock news I realised that the two men the driver was speaking about were my brothers. “I immediately dropped out of the car and came here.” Jason Bartholomew, 35, of San Fernando, who assisted police said, “Those men would have been alive today if that driver did not give Brian a bad drive. Brian and another vehicle were drag racing when all of a sudden a Super Salon pulled in front of him and caused him to slam into the railing of the bridge. That driver is responsible for their deaths, he gave them a bad drive. We all searched the river until we found them, they were my friends, I met them right where they died.” Meanwhile, up to late last night, Lewis who is warded in critical condition at the San Fernando General Hospital, was battling for his life. Lewis, a police report stated, was driving south along the Solomon Hochoy Highway, when on reaching the Harmony Hall overpass he lost control of his black 280C vehicle and crashed into the beam of the overpass. The accident occurred at about 4 pm. Fire fighters who were called to scene had to use the “jaws of life” to remove Lewis from the mangled wreck. <SCRIPT language=JavaScript> function pop(url,w,h) { okno = null; if(window.screen) { aw = screen.availWidth; ah = screen.availHeight; } else { aw=640; ah=480; } dane="width="+w+",height="+h+",left=" +(aw-w)/2+",top=" +(ah-h)/2 +",toolbar=no,location=no,directories=no," +"status=no,menubar=no," +"scrollbars=yes, resizable=no"; okno=window.open(url,'pop',dane); } </SCRIPT> <SCRIPT language=JavaScript> function pop(url,w,h) { okno = null; if(window.screen) { aw = screen.availWidth; ah = screen.availHeight; } else { aw=640; ah=480; } dane="width="+w+",height="+h+",left=" +(aw-w)/2+",top=" +(ah-h)/2 +",toolbar=no,location=no,directories=no," +"status=no,menubar=no," +"scrollbars=yes, resizable=no"; okno=window.open(url,'pop',dane); } </SCRIPT> |
Re: Does it really have to reach to this
Why can't we take out time driving on the roadways, why must we always over take or drag race on the people road? This is how we will end up when we do that.
Please there is no need to hurry, if you are late, you will not be late twice, take your time. |
Re: Does it really have to reach to this
You know I dread opening up Trinidad newspapers nowadays, because if it is not murder is this. :(
My aunt got killed in a car accident two years ago in Gulf City and then last year my cousin go killed. :shame: With my aunt her and my uncle were at a traffic light and a drunk driver came speeding and couldn't stop. Slammed into her side killing her. Rhonda Ballah was her name beautiful person, most gracious, giving person you ever met. I miss her alot. :( http://www.trinidadexpress.com/index...ws?id=37921568 My cousin Yohance Patrick was with his cousin and a car coming from the opposite direction overtook the car in front of them and slammed into my cousin's car head on. Killed 5 of them that day. This is so ridiculous is not even funny. http://www.trinidadexpress.com/index...e?id=121815226 |

Just last week friday a woman got killed on the PBR by a Soldier who do not have a pass and was overtaking a maxi taxi that stop for the woman to cross. I also remember that one with your aunty too Sah. |

My auntie's funeral I went home for...what pissed me off is the police start carrying on with my dad and uncle (aunty husband) because the same man that killed was there to give his statement. My uncle was going to buss his ass and my father was trying to explain to the police the man grieving. They didn't want to hear that nah. I hate Trinidad police with a passion even more. San thanks, small world. |
Re: Does it really have to reach to this
I understand Sah, our police are asses, they dont care if you grieving or not. In my cousin funeral 3 years ago, they were hoovering the cemetery in helicopter and plainclothes police were also there, they dont care if you are grieving one bit.
I hate them with a passion also. |
Re: Does it really have to reach to this
Speed thrills but it also kills. And these days you have to drive for yourself and everyone else on the road. Like alot ah them ppl here in the VI can't drive to save they ass.

Re: Does it really have to reach to this
I agree with you Bikeman, you gotta drive for the other people and not yourself nowadays, I dont drive, but I heard my friend saying all the time, that she have to drive for other people on the road, but some others dont think that way.
We recently i was travelling home with my co worker, he saw someone on the highway he once drag raced with on the Uriah Highway, he wanted to get his attention, I told him, when I am not here in this car you can do that right now, drive for me please, not my life brother man. The thing is these fellas in the prime of their lives and taking so much chances with it. |
